I want to represent you democrats of Assembly District 18 @ the Alameda County Democratic Central Committee  because I believe that we must act at every level to stop displacement in Alameda County.   As Democrats we control all statewide offices and both chambers in the legislature and yet in the age of Super Majorities little progress is made to advance the fundamental issue of our time, Wealth Inequality and a Housing Crisis of dust bowl proportions.   We must demand and end to special interest so ingrained in our system that ordinary voters are no longer participating, Bernie Sanders is showing us that Democrats do not need to compromise their values in the name of campaign contributions, we cannot continue to have sitting Senators indicted for corruption.

Democrats must fight displacement to hold on to out base.

Summary

It has become evident that gentryfication and displacement is in full display in Alameda County, and out response as a political party has been tepid. Democrats must reclaim the mantle of fighting for the people, standing up to interest that have resulted in the greatest migration of African Americans since the 1930's.

No longer can we hide the fact that we are losing the very people the Democratic party has depended on for 40 years, to create a climate of understanidng and principled politcs, that until very recently has been the vangard of the left in the united states.

An Oakland removed from it's radical traditions is an empty shell, lets make sure we hold on to the community that remains. let put tenants, seniors and families first, we need strong rent control, a jobs program, a civilian police review board with real authority.

Plenty of evidence points to a significat shift in populations from Alameda County to Contra Costa, in particular from Richmond, Oakland, Alameda, San Leandro to far east communities in the extended bay area such as Antioch, Pittburg, Bay Point and further points in the delta and central valley.

This displacement is documented by several direc action and non-profit groups, and the work by SF eviciton mapping project and Causa Justa - Just Cause have been fundamental in providing empirical evidence of the crisis, while voting patterns is not a big concer to a family having to move away to afford their home, the Central Commitee of the Democratic party should be worried as we lose more and more of the commited volunteers and dedicated voters that have made us a progressive stronhold in a country flirting with fascism under the banner of "Make America Great Again"

DEMOCRATS must not allow real state developers and speculators to destroy the work we have done.

Rent Control is a proven solution, it creates the stability for tenants and that translates into strong community institutions.

Living Wage can guarantee that anyone who works 40 hours a week can afford their rent, food and basic supplies.

End Police Militarization, the budgetarial weight of numerous civil lawsuits is cripling our cities, we must reform our police forces.
