My Top 3 Priorities

  • One of my top priorities would be to work to improve the city's infrastructure to ensure it is meeting the new demands from development and to ensure that the development of the city is in line with the vision that the citizens expect for Lincoln.
  • To ensure that the downtown area (historic Lincoln) is properly developed to provide Lincoln with a unique, safe and family friendly experience.
  • To ensure that we hold all those accountable to the people actually accountable and that specific interests are not prioritized over the needs of the citizens.

Biography

Brandy Waters grew up in a small norther California town north of Lincoln.  After graduating from high school Brandy attended UC Santa Barbara where she played softball and worked part-time for one year.  After a year in college Brandy had to become completely financially responsible for her college education and decided a transfer to UC Davis would better suit her endeavors.  Upon arriving to UC Davis Brandy sought employment, attended college full-time and joined the Army ROTC department.  After graduating from UC Davis she then entered the US Army as a Second Lieutenant in the Military Police Corps.  She was married in 1996 to another Army officer. Her first duty station was South Korea.  Additional Army schools include airborne school and Special Reaction Team training.  After serving as a platoon leader, S1, and assistant S3 Brandy left the Army and entered corporate work.  She handled and was responsible for several fber optic construction projects that spanned the nation each with budgets over $2 million.  In 2002 Brandy and her husband decided to move near family in Virginia and both were employed by Chesterfield County Police Department.  Brandy finished top in her class in all eligible categories:  academics, physical testing, marksmanship and overall top cadet.  After becoming pregnant Brandy decided to finish the law degree she began in night school while working at Williams Communications.  She graduted from law school in 2006, took and passed the Virginia Bar in February 2007, and had her second child in March 2007.  Brandy worked part time as an attorney, the first female to be hired in the firm for 18 months before her and her family decided to make Lincoln their home.  In 2009 they purchased their current home in Lincoln Crossing.  Brandy now has four children, for whom she is deeply devoted and commits to making their lives as enriched as possible.  Deciding to run for a position on the City Council is an investment in her community and the lives of her children.

Political Beliefs

Political Philosophy

I bring a diverse set of experiences to this campaign as evidenced through my bio.  But as important, I was raised to understand that hard work and ethics can and will get you further in life as I was the first in my family to receive a college education completely self-financed.  I was raised to understand that honesty is the cornerstone of all personal interactions.  I believe in community and service and working to look through the lens of many rather than those who are the loudest.  I believe that planning and budgeting and fiscal and personal responsibility can keep this city a unique community.  We have a great opportunity to mold Lincoln to remain unique while meeting modern demands and citizen's priorities or we have the potential to languish into a sprawling, aesthetically unpleasing suburb.  I want Lincoln to continue to be a place for families and residents to want to thrive and grow.
