My Top 3 Priorities

  • To provide teachers with support so they can utilize data to ensure student success but not over assess students so the teachers can teach and the students can learn what is required of them through the Common Core State Standards.
  • I want to encourage our district to be transparent to parents, students, teachers and the community.
  • I envision a finished modernized school that will ensure all-around success while remaining fiscally solvent.

Political Beliefs

My philosophy in teaching is to be the best teacher you can while keeping parents in the loop and keeping communication open for the student and teacher.  I believe all students can succeed and that it is our job as teachers to work in conjunction with parents to make this happen.  I also believe there should be a limit on assessment and data because over-assessing doesn’t give teachers time to actually teach because teachers need to assess and get good quality data to the district and they can’t do both effectively.  I believe the current expectations could and should be re-looked at to make sure there is data but also student learning and engagement as well. I also believe that if you are a new teacher, in any regards, you need time to perfect your job and classroom management before you overextend yourself.  Good teachers burnout quick because they come with such vision and drive and the other responsibilities can overwhelm them.   I also believe that all departments  should work together toward a common goal for each school year but the leads need to make sure that all information from all departments is delivered to Superintendent. This transparency and collaboration allows for a successful relationship between teachers and administration.
