Preguntas y Respuestas

Preguntas de League of Women Voters of California Education Fund (5)

What financing method(s) would you support to repair or improve roads, rails, ports, airports, the electrical grid and other infrastructure in the U.S.?
Respuesta de Rodolfo Cortes Barragan:

We can use the same financing method that we use for our extensive military budget: Discretionary spending. This means that Congress passes an appropriations bill (orders the creation of money) for the restoration and expansion of our roads, rails, ports, airports, the electoral grid, and all other aspects of our infrastructure. Taxes need not be raised. For deeper explanation, see the work of Economics Professor Stephanie Kelton.

What programs or legislation, if any, would you support to help Americans of all ages secure affordable health care?
Respuesta de Rodolfo Cortes Barragan:

The Constitution's Preamble clearly states that the United States government should promote the general welfare. That means the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. If the Framers had rebelled against Britain in 2018, they would have most certainly kept the right to guaranteed healthcare enjoyed by U.K. residents. It's time for the U.S. to join the rest of the industrialized world with a single-payer "Medicare for All" healthcare system.

Describe an immigration policy that you would support if presented to the House.
Respuesta de Rodolfo Cortes Barragan:

We must immediately keep our promises to our Dreamers. It's time for a Clean Dream Act.

What programs or legislation would you support to meet the water needs of Californians and the federal water project infrastructure in California?
Respuesta de Rodolfo Cortes Barragan:

We need two major, federally-sponsored projects to benefit California and the nation in terms of water policy. First, the much-needed replacement of America's aged water pipe system could create tens of thousands of good-paying jobs. Communities would reap major health benefits from water delivered on a new network of pipes. Second, we need to invest in Green desalination technologies and facilities to ensure the long-term availability and sustainability of our water supply.

According to a "Civility In America” survey, 75% of Americans believe that the U.S. has a major civility problem. If you are elected what will do to address this?
Respuesta de Rodolfo Cortes Barragan:

I am a peace candidate. I support all efforts toward the de-escalation of conflict between peoples and societies. I hope to serve as a positive role model for others.
